There is something incredibly special about photographing a family from the very beginning.

I first met these two for their engagement session, then their wedding day, and since then I’ve had the joy of documenting their family every single year. Watching their story unfold — from newly engaged to parents of three — is one of the greatest honors of my job.

This Philadelphia fall family session felt especially meaningful because their crew is now five strong… and full of energy. Three sweet littles, endless giggles, and the kind of joyful chaos that makes sessions come alive.

We met just before the leaves turned — that in-between season where everything is still beautifully green but you can feel fall in the air. I love this time of year for family photos in Philadelphia. The tones stay neutral and timeless, which keeps the focus where it belongs: on connection.

One thing I always tell families (especially with little ones) is this: we move with the energy.

If they want to run — we run.

If they want to twirl — we twirl.

If they want to race mom and dad — we turn it into a game.

Because the magic happens in between.

The quick squeeze before they dart off again.

The proud grin when they “win.”

The breathless giggles when everyone collapses into a hug.

Children aren’t meant to stand perfectly still and smile at a camera — and honestly, that’s not what you’ll want to remember anyway. You’ll want to remember the movement. The laughter. The way their little hands reached for yours.

Photographing families in Philadelphia year after year is such a gift. To be trusted not just once, but over and over again as your babies grow — it’s something I never take lightly.

To this sweet family — thank you for letting me tell your story from the very beginning. Watching your love grow has been the joy of a lifetime.
